Clarifying confusion over Initiative 123 and Waterfront project

7/13/2015

Kate Martin, with funding from developer Martin Selig, has filed to place Initiative 123 on the November ballot. I-123 seeks to save a 400-foot section of the viaduct and use it to build an elevated park at the waterfront. Paid signature gatherers are currently gathering signatures to have the measure placed on the ballot. I-123 is using the tagline: "Waterfront for All", the name that the City’s Waterfront Seattle project has been using for more than five years. There is concern that this could confuse voters who may believe they are signing a petition that involves implementation of the city's current 'Waterfront For All' project.

Friends of Seattle’s Waterfront recently sent this letter to the Initiative 123 campaign.
