The West Edge Neighborhood Association will be taking an indefinite hiatus, possibly with occasional online meetings. We expect this hiatus to continue through the end of the COVID pandemic. If you have interest in getting involved in more regular meetings, please drop a line to Info@WestEdgeNeighborhood.org. See you around the neighborhood!

In this time of uncertainty, we also extend our wishes to our local small businesses. Numerous neighborhood businesses remain open for essential goods, groceries, and take-out food, and they could use your support. Our thanks to WENA's presenting sponsors at Pike Brewing Company, Dianne's Delights Catering and The Barque Brontes Bakery Café. Stay safe. We'll get through this! WENA will not be meeting in July, but we'll return in August!
See you Wednesday, August 7, 2019! A big thank you to Charles Finkel, owner of Pike Brewing, for providing pizza and beer for each of our meetings!
See you in February! The West Edge Neighborhood Association held its officer elections in March. President Jo Vandersnick decided to step back and assume the role of Treasurer, to which she was appointed at the following Executive Board meeting. Based on the membership's unanimous vote, our new President is Leigh Valentine. Ben Anderstone was unanimously re-elected Secretary.

Following a presentation by the Vote NO on Initiative 123 committee, feedback from members at that meeting, and a clear understanding of how poorly Initiative 123 is written and what it would mean to our waterfront, the WENA executive committee voted unanimously to endorse and recommend to our members a NO vote on Initiative 123 on the August Primary Election ballot.
West Edge Neighborhood Association is particularly concerned about what the measure means to our community. Via the No on Prop 123 web site: "I-123 creates an unelected board and grants them unlimited access to the City’s budget to implement their plan to build a massive elevated structure running from the Pike Place Market to Century Link field. It directly conflicts with the existing Waterfront plan, which was developed through an open public process that included input from thousands of Seattleites." Voters can expect their ballots in late July; they will be due postmarked by Tuesday, August 2. More info here: www.voteno123.com. Our 2016 membership drive began in January. Annual dues are affordable (see rates below) and it’s easy to join online, or at a monthly meeting by credit card, check or cash. Dues may be waived based on need by request to the Board at info@westedgeneighborhood.org.
Since our first meeting in June, the WENA has recruited interim officers, adopted bylaws, built relationships with great restaurant sponsors, and heard interesting presentations on local developments, transportation issues, and public safety initiatives. We’ve met new neighbors, learned more about our neighborhood, and have grown our membership. As we look forward to 2016, we want to hear from you about to make this neighborhood organization more relevant, interesting, and fun! Please take a few minutes to answer these 10 short questions. Thank you!
